Globalvia accompanies Valerann at CES2020

From January 7 to 11 was held in Las Vegas (USA) the CES -Consumer Electronics Show-, a massive event of consumer electronics that brings together, for over 50 years, professionals from the world of technology and consumer electronics. It is the place to be if you have something to say about this new digital era in which we live: large technology companies, global thinkers & gurus, startups, … In short, a great think tank to reflect on the future of technology.

Many innovations have been presented at this forum since 1967: Windows XP, Blu-ray, LED television and the 3D printer. This year’s edition did not feature any major disruptive announcements, but it did serve to consolidate some well-known trends:

  • Democratization of innovation. Until recently, great innovations were only reserved for technological giants. The Eureka space at the Venetian Hotel, where this congress was held, shows that start-ups are breaking the hegemony of big innovation by leveraging on big tech.
  • Concepts «everywhere»: this year we have seen less tangible reality (e.g. car launches, TVs, etc.), giving more prominence to the «concept» that helps us transport us to the near future and see how different technological ideas will make our lives easier. Will AVATAR change the driving of the future?
  • The AI magic that no one dares to buy yet. Artificial intelligence is indeed here to stay. However, it still has some way to go before it becomes mainstream.
  • And finally, perhaps the trend that affects us most: will autonomous cars need something/someone other than themselves, will the cars act as their own sensors or will infrastructure play a vital role in the introduction of autonomous driving?

At Globalvia, we are working to answer this last question. Our mission is to build the future of mobility with a connected and intelligent infrastructure. Therefore, we have had the pleasure of participating in the #CES2020 edition with the Smart45 project in which we collaborate with the Israeli startup Valerann, awarded as the most innovative startup #Bestofinnovation #CES2020. The objective of this collaborative project Smart45 is to provide real-time information to the control center and the track user. Through an analytical solution and the internet of things, solar-powered sensors will provide information to both managers and drivers about different aspects that are occurring in the infrastructure.
